Let's dive in & explore:
What is the 75 Hard Challenge?
75 Hard is the brainchild of Andy Frisella, an entrepreneur, podcaster & CEO of a supplement company, 1st Phorm.
It is a mental toughness challenge with non-negotiable rules to follow for 75 consecutive days without any slip-ups or cheating.
If you break a single rule, you must start the challenge from scratch.
Inspired by a Canadian athlete, James Lawrence, Frisella started this challenge.
What are the 75 Hard Rules?
For 75 consecutive days, you need to:
Stick to a diet.
Complete two 45-minute workouts per day: 1 indoor & 1 outdoor regardless of the weather.
Drink 4.5 liters of water daily.
Take a progress picture regularly.
Read ten pages of a Non-fiction book. [Audio books don’t count!]
Restart from day one if you break any rule.

How I Discovered the 75 Hard Challenge?
I stumbled upon the 75 Hard challenge on Instagram, where someone was sharing their transformative journey.
The video captivated me so much that right then & there, I decided to embrace this challenge.
I delved deep into research and fetched every minor detail to prepare myself mentally & physically for #My75Hard.
Why I took on the 75 Hard?
The 75 Hard Challenge resonated with me on a deeper level. It wasn't just a passing fancy; it became the driving force to add ambition to my life.
As an undisciplined individual, I had been living within my comfort zone. I craved a positive change, and the 75 Hard Challenge held the key to unlocking my potential for endless growth.
My reasons for taking on My75Hard:
To prove my worth to myself and the world.
To come in good shape & be fitter.
To step out of my comfort zone.
To prioritize my health & well-being.
To embrace positive changes in my lifestyle.
Customizing My75Hard Challenge
Though the 75 Hard rules are non-negotiable, you can add certain things based on your needs. While the core rules remain unchanged, I personalized My75Hard to suit my Indian lifestyle.
You too can customize your diet, workout, and book choices to align with your interests & body type.
Just remember that any setback in this challenge means starting over, so be thoughtful about your adaptations.
Once you add something to the rules, it is required to adhere to them throughout the 75 Hard Journey. Any alterations made in the middle of the program will be cheating.
Preparing for My75Hard Journey
Before diving into the challenge, I spent a week preparing myself mentally & physically. I wanted to be fully committed & ready to face any hurdles.
I took a week's trial for My75Hard to know:
The causes & effects of the challenge.
Abandoning my lazy and careless behaviour.
Entertaining no excuses until the last day.
Understanding the consequences of committing to this journey.
Identifying my weaknesses & strengths, ensuring I was fully ready for the road ahead.
My preparation time had its setbacks, but it also taught me to stand up, improve and learn from my mistakes.
Instead of seeing my failures as setbacks, I saw them as opportunities to grow stronger.
As a result, I was able to prepare myself for the upcoming challenge.
Waking up during My75Hard
Waking up early was a struggle for me but I realized it was so because I lacked a solid reason to wake up.
Finding my purpose was the key to conquering this challenge.
I found a solution to fix it.
My motivation came from wanting to help my mother by taking on the task of filling the drinking water & allowing her rest.
She had been performing this duty forever.
And it worked like a charm!
This simple but meaningful reason helped me overcome my reluctance to rise early.
If you are struggling with it, I recommend finding your reason. You might be surprised at how effective it can be.
I added Ancient Indian culture to My 75 Hard program. Why?
Fond of spirituality and religion, I planned to add books to my 75 Hard Challenge that added more to the current knowledge of Indian culture within me.I delved into non-fiction books that deepened the existing understanding of my favorite subjects.
Vedic Dinacharya of Pratik Prajapati [Veducation]
Basics of Sanatan Sanskriti [Boss] of Pratik Prajapati
The Bhagavad Geeta by Geeta Press.
The Psychology of Money
Chanakya Niti
Autobiography of a Yogi [Audiobook]
I started reading these books before beginning My75Hard. They revealed the ancient Sanatan practices followed by our ancestors. It was 'never heard before' facts & information.
Some truths amazed me & some compelled me to follow them as much as possible. That’s why I added the teachings laid down by the books with the 75 Hard challenge rules. Ancient Indian practices I added:
Using herbal twigs instead of brush & chemically made toothpaste.
Taking Lemon cinnamon water to reduce belly fat.
Chanting Shlokas and mantras every morning.
Worshipping the Ishta dev [The cherished divinity]
Including pranayama and exercise in the routine.
Reading religious scriptures.
Seeking blessings from parents.
Practicing Celibacy.
The Indian-style Gym for My75Hard Workout
Even for my 75 Hard challenge workouts, I didn't choose a contemporary gym with the latest machines & technology. I went to an 85-year-oldtraditional akhada- "Bajrang Vyayam Mandir."
What I simply loved there was - The Lord Hanuman's temple; it constantly symbolizes & reminded us of the limitless human strength & energy during workouts.
I also came across calisthenics, a form of exercise that uses body weight instead of external equipment, in the akhada.
I started practicing it with my gym routine & chose it as my 1st workout for the 75 Hard Challenge.
For my outdoor workout, which was also my second workout of the 75 Hard Challenge, I selected a –
1. 5 Km Walk.
2. 12 Km cycling.
It took approximately 1-hour to complete. I used to choose between these two according to my mood & suitability.
Diet during My75Hard
I crafted a healthy diet plan to fuel my body during the 75 Hard Challenge.
The Morning started with –
Lemon cinnamon water on an empty stomach.
Dry fruits before my 1st workout session.
A Healthy breakfast, such as Poha, Upma, Besan, or moong dal Chilla after workouts.
My Lunch included-
Curd
Salad
Fiber
Vitamins
Seasonal fruits
The dinner consisted of-
A simple meal like chapati, healthy vegetables, and salad. All this was not possible without my sweet mumma. She is just incredible. 💓
Preparing my own food
Conquering My75Hard Challenge
After a successful 7-day trial and thorough preparations, I started My75Hard with confidence.
My morale continued to tenfold as days passed by. I ticked each point on my to-do list.
I was becoming more disciplined & dedicated in comparison to my previous failed attempts.
But as the saying goes, “each day is not the same,” M75Hard Challenge tested my willpower, dedication & resilience.
Some days were a breeze, while others presented formidable obstacles.
Sometimes I had to fight a mental battle with my family and relatives.
I remember my parents asking me to let go of the task. Though I got frustrated, I remained steadfast in my commitments.
Though it was a mental struggle to gain the trust & belief of my closed ones, I remained firm.
Doubts & temptations tried to derail me during My75Hard, but I remained resilient.
My willpower kept winning from all the challenges this challenge threw.
Thriving Amid Real-Life Challenges in My75Hard
Amidst real-life challenges like family gatherings, wedding, and outings, I stayed committed to My75Hard challenge.
How I found creative solutions on each of these occasions you ask?
Let’s see them.
Office Treats
At my office we have treat at least once in a week, the delicious snacks served in front of me instead of being greedy I help them in serving.
Visiting our Kuldevi, Chotila temple [Cherished Deity]
My family planned to seek the blessings of our Kuldevi Goddess. So, we visited the temple, which is around 1250 feet high.
Whatsoever, I was able to complete my challenge on that day too.
I finished my first workout of the 75 Hard Challenge by trekking the mountain.
I also took strict care of my diet the whole day by carrying homemade food with me on the trip & avoided eating outside.
My Friend's Marriage
The second instance was my friend Hiren's marriage.
The marriage ceremony was in a resort, distant from the city. It meant no homemade food for that day.
I, at no cost, wanted to break my 75 Hard Challenge rule of eating a healthy diet. So, I decided to go nutritious with Paneer & Chapati to complete my 75 Hard Challenge diet.
And you know How I did my second workout in the marriage itself?
By doing Garba!
Being a Gujarati, Garba runs in our veins. I not just played but enjoyed & completed my 75 Hard challenge for that day with 100% success.
On Father’s Day
Since my whole family wanted to give tribute to all fathers out there, my sister planned a dinner. Undoubtedly, I love my father so much, how could I remain back? I joined my family.
Wondering how I managed to complete my challenge?
I told my mum to make Khichadi [Porridge].
I ate my homemade food & kept the challenge going with great determination.
I want to take a moment to thank my Ironman my Dad. He took care alot regarding my diet fruits and dry fruits. He is an ocean of love.
Treat my cousins.
I visited a famous restaurant with my cousins on Sunday.
Due to the weekend, there was a rush. I knew the order would take around 2 hours to get served. I took my mom-made paneer curry and parathas with me.
I had it in the restaurant & completed my diet for the 75 Hard challenge.
Any guesses about how I did my second workout there?
Haha! Let me share.
I went to the nearby plot with a big lawn for a 45-minute walk.
I passed every mentally-demanding situation without fail. The 75 Hard Challenge showed me clearly that where there is a will, there is a way.
Being without water and food whole day - Nirjala Ekadashi
Being fond of religious practices, our sanatan culture and challanging nature I broke 1 rule on Day 56 by not eating or drinking even a sip of water for 24 hours. It has numerous benefits according to our scriptures which I completed healthily.
Even the storms can't stop you !
In these rainy days, you know there are many problems due to rain. you can't go to gym or for walk but A stubborn mind can't be stopped by even a storm. I did workout at my terrace and for the evening walk I used to walk between rooms in my home. This video is of that day when there was high alert for the biparjoy Cyclone.
Notice my efforts rather than the failure.
The last phase of My75 Hard
Trust me; the final days of My75Hard challenge tested me the most.
Temptations like the aroma of delicious food tried to sway me, and other times people melted me down.
There were times when my mind played tricks. It persuaded me to get lenient over myself. It charmed me that the 90% work is over.
During these hours, I reminded myself of my reasons for starting My75Hard. I visualized my goals to stay focused consistently.
Completion of My75Hard Challenge
I still remember it was Friday.
The 75th day of My75Hard was there. I cannot express my feelings. The feelings of my achievement were unparalleled.
However, instead of resting or celebrating, I continued the challenge for an additional day, making it my own 76-day journey.
This decision allowed me to fully cherish the transformation I had undergone & preserve the mental toughness I had cultivated.
I did not want my emotions to overpower me. This challenge was about a change and I wanted to feel it.
Resting only on the 77th day of My75Hard, I pledged to continue the same routine from Monday, as this journey was not just about achieving a goal but embracing lasting change.
Yes, I still wake up at 6 in the Morning.
Additionally, I continue to execute the lessons I learned during the challenge.
